Instagram shows feed posts at 1080 pixels wide. A square 1080 × 1080 image is the classic post; for portrait posts that take up more of the feed, choose 4:5 in the crop editor or type 1080 × 1350.
The crop box keeps the right shape while you drag, and the size and aspect ratio update live. Prefer the whole picture with bars instead of a crop? Choose “Pad” in the settings.

Instagram post size (1080 × 1080) questions
1080 × 1080 for square posts, or 1080 × 1350 (4:5) for portrait posts, which show bigger in the feed.
Feed posts must be between 1.91:1 and 4:5. Cropping it yourself here means you choose what stays in, not Instagram.
