Image compressor
Shrink photos and graphics without sending them anywhere. Set a quality, or type the size you need and let PixelPilot find the highest quality that fits.

How to use it
- Drop one or more images, or choose them from your device.
- Keep the suggested format and quality, or type a size target such as 200 KB.
- Press Compress. Each file is re-encoded on your device and the new size is measured.
- Drag the divider on the preview to compare the original and the result.
- Download the files you want. If a result came out larger, PixelPilot says so and suggests what to try.
Formats and limits
- Opens
- JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame), AVIF where your browser decodes it, BMP
- Saves
- JPEG, PNG (lossless or reduced palette), WebP, and AVIF only if your browser can encode it
- PixelPilot uses your browser’s own encoders, which are good but not as tuned as tools like MozJPEG. Results vary by browser.
- Metadata such as EXIF camera data and location is not copied into the output.
- Animated GIF, WebP and PNG become still images.
- Images over 40 MB or 50 megapixels are refused on the free plan to protect your browser’s memory.
Image compressor questions
No. Decoding, resizing and encoding happen in your browser tab. The files never leave your device, and closing the tab discards them.
An image that was already compressed hard can grow when re-encoded at a higher quality. PixelPilot measures every result and tells you when that happens, so you can keep the original or try a lower quality or WebP.
The default PNG setting reduces the image to 256 colours, which is usually invisible on graphics but can band smooth gradients. Choose “Lossless” to keep every pixel.
PNG and WebP keep it. JPEG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a background colour you choose, and the app warns you first.
